Malayalam department conducted the programme Vaikom Muhammad
Basheer anusmaranam on 05-07-2019 in Mini auditorium at 2 p.m. Dr. A.M.Reena ,
Head of the Malayalam Dept. gave a welcome speech. College Principal Prof. D Jayaprasad chaired the function. felicitation
had done by Dr.K.Sankaranunni (former head of the Mal.dept.),and A.V.Rajesh
(college Union chairman) chief guest Dr.
Anil K.M.(Director,Thuchathu Ezhuthachan Malayala Sarvakalasala,Tiroor )Presented
about Basheer.
In his speech Basheer was an Indian
independence activist and writer of Malayalam
literature . He was a beautiful
writer humanist, freedom fighter, novelist and short story writer, noted for his
path-breaking, down-to-earth style of writing that made him equally popular
among literary critics as well as the common man.
His notable
works include balyakalasakhi, sabdhanagal, Pathummayude Aadu, Mathilukal, Ntuppuppakkoranendarnnu
and Janmadinam . Dr.Anil K.M.. told about basheer characters, His
characters were also marginalised people like gamblers, thieves, pickpockets
and prostitutes and they appeared in his works, naive and pure. An astute
observer of human character, he skilfully combined humour and pathos in his
works. Love, hunger and poverty, life in prison are recurring themes in his
works.
